About Us
|
The LaGrange Community Band is an all-adult concert ensemble made up of amateur, professional, and retired musicians. The band was founded by Neal Brumbeloe and is currently under the direction of Michael Daniell.
Formed in 2010, the band began as a part-time musical group and has since grown into a cornerstone of the LaGrange arts community. Over the past decade, more than 130 musicians have participated, with an average of 50 performers taking the stage at each concert. The band’s diverse repertoire includes traditional marches, symphonic transcriptions, Broadway hits, contemporary pop arrangements, seasonal favorites, and original works by modern composers. The mission of the LaGrange Community band is to Foster the lifelong enjoyment of music for musicians and audiences throughout West GA. |
Our History
In 2010, at the request of the Downtown LaGrange Development Authority, a group of volunteer musicians came together to provide a patriotic concert to kick off the week of July 4th events for downtown LaGrange. Neal Brumbeloe, a LaGrange native with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a Master's degree in Conducting from Auburn University, was asked to conduct this organization and the LaGrange Community Band was born.
The Community Band provides annual pre-4th of July programs of “Americana” music held at Sweetland Amphitheatre as well as music for other events such as Lafayette Day. Although the core of the LaGrange Community Band is made up of LaGrange residents, individuals from Newnan, Peachtree City, Columbus, Smith Station, Auburn, and other communities, come to volunteer their time and talents to this organization.
